ODM leader Raila Odinga has directed the ODM office to waive the KES100 membership fee as the party embarks on a vigorous member recruitment process in readiness for the 2022 polls. Members are encouraged to register in large numbers in the next three months.
Addressing Journalists earlier, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna clarified that the waiver is effective July 1st, 2021, and will be valid for three months. “The fees waiver is meant to clear the way for members who may be willing to register but lack the 100 shillings due to financial constraints.
“We urge our supporters to take advantage of the three months and register so that they become eligible to take part in the grassroots nominations and elections.” Said Sifuna
Other fees remain. Anyone seeking to run for office will have to part with 100 for polling units, 200 for sub-branch, 500 for branch, 1000 for the county, and 5000 for the national office.
Registered members have also need to confirm their membership status since non-registered members will not be allowed to vote in the grassroots elections.
